In recent times, fraudulent schemes have evolved, with scam groups extensively utilizing chatbots through social media platforms like Telegram, Instagram, and Facebook to disseminate fraudulent messages. They employ tactics such as promising high returns and guaranteed short-term profits to lure unsuspecting individuals. Subsequently, they set up fake investment websites to create an illusion of profitability. When the victims want to withdraw their earnings, the scammers demand ongoing payments as "security deposits" until victims are left broke. To prevent scam incidents, the Miaoli Police Bureau, in collaboration with the County Health Bureau, organized an "Anti-Scam Prevention Campaign" during a influenza vaccine press conference orgainzed by the Health Bureau on October 2, 2023. This campaign aimed to establish an "Anti-Scam and Anti-Epidemic Task Force" and enhance the public's ability to defend against scams.

Miaoli County Police Bureau Chief Juang, Sheng-Shyong stated that through distributing anti-fraud awareness materials and individually educating the public about scam prevention, participants not only improve their personal epidemic defense capabilities but also develop scam prevention knowledge. The goal is to prevent scam cases from occurring.

Miaoli County Magistrate Chung Tung-chin reminded everyone that "fake investments" exploit individuals' desire for quick wealth, making them easy targets. Whenever someone hears promises of "guaranteed profits," "zero risk," or "high returns," it is a scam. They should not fall for it, and if there are any concerns, they can call the anti-scam hotline at 165 or the emergency hotline at 110 for assistance.
