Unit: 外事科
In Miaoli City, a woman surnamed Li (59 years old) was bitten by a venomous snake in her own backyard garden, causing a critical condition. While her husband was driving her to the hospital, they encountered patrolling police officers and urgently sought assistance. The police car sounded its siren to clear the way, reducing what would have been nearly a 10-minute drive to just 3 minutes, ensuring swift arrival at the hospital for treatment.
Recently, Lin Cheng-yao, the officer in charge of the Wenshan Police Station of the Miaoli Police Bureua, and officer Zhang Quan, were on patrol duty when a passerby urgently knocked on the patrol car window, saying, "My wife has been bitten by a venomous snake. Can you help us get her to the hospital?" Recognizing the severity of the situation, the officers immediately sounded their siren to clear the path and assist in swiftly transporting the woman to an emergency room at a hospital in the city center. Thanks to their prompt action, the woman received timely treatment, and fortunately, she suffered no major injuries. The family expressed gratitude to the officers for their dedicated assistance.
The Miaoli Police Bureau emphasizes that serving the people is their duty, and although there are risks associated with clearing the way for emergency vehicles, the police will always extend a helping hand and provide full assistance in urgent situations. However, they also urge the public to prioritize calling 119 for emergency medical assistance. Professional paramedics and medical equipment can provide the best medical assistance in the shortest time possible.
