Miaoli Police Conduct On-campus Awareness Campaign against Bullying and Fraud Prevention
Unit: 外事科
Miaoli police took the opportunity to conduct on-campus awareness campaign at ChienTai High School on May 15, engaging in activities to promote anti-bullying and fraud prevention. Approximately 300 students participated, where, in addition to discussing the methods by which adolescents are easily deceived, real-life cases were shared where students were recruited by fraud groups as money mules. In one such case, students believed they had found high-paying jobs and withdrew funds as instructed, unknowingly aiding a fraudulent group. The funds deposited into their accounts came from other victims, resulting in the students' bank accounts being flagged and placed under protective supervision by the juvenile court.
To reduce the occurrence of campus bullying incidents, Miaoli police and the Miaoli County Government's Youth Counseling Committee visited ChienTai High School together, educating students on how to recognize bullying behavior. They encouraged students to bravely report any instances of bullying they witness or experience. If students encounter instances of bullying, fraud, or gang-related activities, they were advised to report to teachers, parents, or call 110 for assistance, ensuring that students can learn and grow in a safe environment.
Miaoli County Police Chief Chen, Shih-Huang urged the public to be cautious, noting that fraud groups often use platforms like Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, etc., to send fake job messages, boasting high salaries, high returns, and easy work. They target young people with no work experience or social experience and further deceive them into providing bank account information or ATM cards. He reminded the public that there's no such thing as a free lunch and advised against easily trusting online job messages to avoid falling victim to fraud.
